I have over eight years experience working in school-based Counselling and Private Practice as a Fully Qualified Counsellor for Children and Young People. I work with children and families, along with individual adult and teenage clients. I am a registered member of BACP.
When working with children and young people I often use an integrated approach of talking, art and play therapy. I try to tailor the therapy to the individual needs and use techniques suitable to age and presenting difficulties. I am trained in both psychodynamic and person centred approaches and also non-directive play therapy.
I have worked for various local organisations here in Northern Ireland that specialise in working with children and young people - such as Lifelink Youth, Place2be and The Spark.
I am trained in Child Protection policies and reporting Risk and experience in multi-disciplinary meetings and working with and alongside other professionals in healthcare, social and education field. I aim to create a very safe and nurturing environment for my clients and their families and caregivers.
